As you can imagine, many tragedies at sea happened in winter, around Christmas and the New Year, so it is common for annual remembrance services to take place every January and February.
These sad but important events are facing many difficulties this year due to the current social distancing rules. It is hoped that ways can be found to cope with the restrictions so that remembrance services can be held once again. In the meantime, Northern Films has put together a tribute film featuring past services, with highlights from the blessing of ‘The Last Trip’ Memorial in Zebedee’s Yard, Hull, by the former Archbishop of York, the Most Reverend John Sentamu, on 13th May 2017.
